Bitterfeld-Wolfen, 4 June 2010 – Q-Cells SE is supporting both the Science of Summer 2010 (Wissenschaftssommer) and the “Science Interactive” (Wissenschaft interaktiv) public award in the state capital of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. As part of these, the photovoltaics company will present itself in the “Science Interactive” fair tent at the Alter Markt in Magdeburg on 5 and 6 June, as well as attending the official award ceremony on 9 June.
On the opening weekend, Q-Cells will be giving the public an understanding of "Photovoltaics and their applications" with three different solar module exhibits and displays. The trade fair stand is closely integrated with the “Science Interactive” fair and offers the public a clear and easy-to-understand insight into science. For the “Science Interactive” competition, three finalist teams were selected to bring their own research projects to life for Summer of Science visitors. The public votes the best project during the event. At the award ceremony on 9 June on board the MS Wissenschaft, the winning team will be announced. The main prize of a €10,000 sponsorship will be awarded by Jörg Müller, Head of Cell Development at Q-Cells.
The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research has held the science years since 2000. The theme for the Summer of Science in 2010 is ENERGY. The event opens on Saturday with the “Long Night of Science”. Numerous activities will offer an unusual look behind the scenes of the laboratories, lecture theatres and workshops of scientific institutions.
